Restaurant Brands Completes Acquisition of Seven KFC Stores in Australia
Restaurant Brands New Zealand Limited (RBD) has, through its subsidiary QSR Pty Limited
(QSR), completed the purchase of seven KFC stores in New South Wales, Australia from a
subsidiary of Yum! Restaurants International (Yum!).
As previously announced, RBD earlier this year entered into a Sale and Purchase Agreement
with Yum! for the purchase of 10 KFC stores in New South Wales with settlement expected to
occur in stages between September and November 2017. Following the completion of the first
stage of eight stores, it is expected that the acquisition of the remaining three stores under the
agreement will occur by the end of 2017.
The completion of this purchase brings the total number of KFC stores owned by QSR in New
South Wales to 55 – a 31% increase from the 42 stores owned when it was acquired by RBD
in April 2016.
QSR is the largest KFC franchisee in New South Wales. It is expected that its total KFC store
numbers will exceed 60 by year end.
