Barbara Chapman appointed Independent Director

AUCKLAND, 18 April 2018: The Board of NZME Limited (NZX: NZM, ASX: NZM) (“NZME”)
advises that it has appointed Barbara Chapman as an Independent Director effective
immediately.

Ms Chapman served as Chief Executive and Managing Director of ASB Bank Limited from 2011
until 2 February 2018. Ms Chapman has extensive business experience gained through a
successful career in the banking industry and has held a number of senior and executive roles
in retail banking, marketing, communications and human resources. Ms Chapman is passionate
about people and culture, and promoting best practice in community, governance and
sustainability.

Peter Cullinane said, “I am delighted to announce that Barbara Chapman will be joining the
NZME Board team. Barbara will further enhance the experience and diversity of our Board,
bringing valuable governance to the table in relation to people and culture, marketing and
technology.”

The Board of NZME has determined that Ms Chapman is an Independent Director in accordance
with NZX Listing Rule 3.3.3(b).

Under NZME’s constitution, Ms Chapman will be required to retire at the next Annual
Shareholders’ Meeting to be held on 21 June 2018. She will stand for election by shareholders
at that meeting.

As previously advised, a Board renewal process is underway to further enhance the Company’s
governance and ensure NZME continues to have the appropriate resources and skills to support
its growth strategy. Ms Chapman’s appointment is a continuation of that process, with the
Board seeking to appoint one further Director in 2018.
