Dame Therese Walsh to join Contact Board

As a result of the previously announced succession planning and search process Dame
Therese Walsh DNZM, FCA, has been appointed as a director to join the Contact
Energy Limited (Contact) Board on 1 September 2018.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dame Therese to the Contact Board.
Her deep financial expertise, strong governance career together with her high profile
leadership experience will strengthen the Contact Board. It is the intention of the Board
that Dame Therese will be appointed Chair of the Audit Committee with effect from 1
September.” said Sir Ralph Norris.

Dame Therese is an Independent director and is currently Chairman of TVNZ, and a
Director of Air NZ and ASB Bank. She is also a Board member of Antarctica NZ, a
Trustee of Wellington Regional Stadium, and Pro-Chancellor of Victoria University.
Previously she was the Head of New Zealand for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, and
the Chief Operating Officer for Rugby New Zealand 2011 Limited. She has also been a
Director of NZX Limited, NZ Cricket and Save the Children NZ, CFO at the New Zealand
Rugby Union and part of the team that worked on the winning bid to host RWC 2011.
Prior to this she was an auditor at KPMG.

Dame Therese is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a commerce
graduate from Victoria University. In 2013, she was named the inaugural supreme
winner of the Women of Influence Awards and was awarded a Sir Peter Blake Trust
Leadership Award in 2014. She became a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order
of Merit in June 2015.

Dame Therese Walsh will fill a casual vacancy from 1 September 2018 until the 2018
annual meeting, then will stand for election by shareholders at that meeting.

The Contact Board has determined that Dame Therese Walsh will be an independent
director.
