Fisher & Paykel Healthcare releases Optiflow 3S, a new premium nasal cannula
interface range

Auckland, New Zealand, 24 May 2019 - Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation Limited
announced today the introduction of its new premium nasal cannula interface range, F&P

3S – Stable, Simple, Soft
F&P Optiflow 3S is a new nasal cannula range designed for delivery of Optiflow nasal high
flow therapy. The cannula includes innovative features such as breathable headgear, new
philtrum pillow and side-swapping which, when combined with Fisher & Paykel Healthcare’s
unique Evaqua technology, makes this the most comfortable and stable nasal cannula the
company has ever developed.

Dr. Andrew Somervell, Vice President of Products & Technology said “Decades of interface
design expertise and years of in-field testing with patients and clinicians led to the
development of an interface focused on delivering the best-possible user experience.
Throughout this journey, three key design principles were followed to ensure the goal was
achieved: stability, simplicity, and softness.”

“A new level of interface stability is achieved due to a re-design of our tube clip, which neatly
positions the interface tube to the side of the patient’s face and results in less interface
displacement and consistent delivery of therapy.”

The Optiflow 3S allows the clinician to easily and confidently fit and adjust the interface as
required for each individual patient. The new side-swapping feature provides setup flexibility
for clinicians by allowing delivery of therapy from either side of the patient.

“With our new philtrum pillow feature, we have minimised the pressure exerted on the
patient’s nose and upper lip. Combined with our soft, breathable headgear and structured
yet flexible arms, Optiflow 3S is designed for uncompromised patient comfort and stability.
Because we know that a comfortable patient is a compliant patient, and patient compliance
ultimately improves outcomes,” concluded Mr Somervell .

The Optiflow 3S range has been released in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the UK, and
Germany, and further European release is expected in the coming months. It will be
available in other regions, after relevant regulatory clearances have been obtained.
