Contact confirmed as essential business

Contact Energy Limited (“CEN”) is committed to supporting the actions of the NZ

Government in restricting the spread of Covid-19, and fulfil its obligations as an essential

business and lifeline utility for New Zealand.

CEO Mike Fuge said Contact Energy was classed as an essential business under the new

Covid-19 rules announced by the Government this week. “At Alert Level 4, we will continue

to deliver services, and do so in a way that limits or eliminates the risk of spreading Covid-

19.”

Mr Fuge said it was humbling to see the dedication of everyone working hard to keep New

Zealand running during a very challenging period. “I’d like to thank everyone for their

massive efforts to date, from Contact people to all of our stakeholders and the energy

industry as a whole. We appreciate your ongoing support, resilience and dedication to

maintaining the energy supply for New Zealanders.”
