February 2020 Monthly traffic update and March 2020 preview

-8.6%
Auckland Airport total passenger volumes decreased by 8.6% in February 2020 versus last year. International passengers (excl. Transits)
were down 8.4%, transit passengers were down 25.3% and domestic passengers were down by 7.3%.

Key Points:
• The decline in total passengers for February 2020 reflects the initial impact of Covid-19 on New Zealand’s travel and tourism industry. On February
2nd, the New Zealand Government imposed travel restrictions on foreign nationals travelling or transiting to and from mainland China. This resulted
in several airlines reducing or suspending their services to China. In addition, airlines operating across the Tasman announced capacity reductions
in response to falling passenger demand. This also impacted the New Zealand domestic travel market with Air New Zealand announcing a
reduction in domestic services.

March 2020 preview

Auckland Airport total passenger volumes decreased by 42.0% in March 2020 versus last year. International passengers (excl. Transits)
were down 43.2%, transit passengers were down 49.5% and domestic passengers were down by 40.1%.

Key Points:
• The decline in total passengers for March 2020 reflects the impact of further travel restrictions imposed by the New Zealand Government in
response to Covid-19. On March 14, the New Zealand Government announced all passengers arriving into New Zealand must self-isolate for 14
days. This was followed by the closure of the New Zealand border from March 20 to all but New Zealand citizens and permanent residents and
New Zealand entering Alert Level 4 lockdown on March 26 for a minimum period of four weeks.
• We expect significantly greater Covid-19 impacts in April with New Zealand in Alert Level 4 lockdown for most of the month.
