SCOTT AWARDED MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT FOR WORLD LEADING MEAT PROCESSING

TECHNOLOGY

Scott Technology Awarded Contract to Design and Build New Zealand’s Most Advanced Lamb

Processing System for Alliance Group

Automation and robotics solutions provider, Scott Technology Limited (NZX: SCT), is pleased to

announce the award of a large contract by Alliance Group to design and build an X-ray lamb boning

system for Alliance’s Lorneville plant, located near Invercargill, as the co-operative seeks to improve

the operational efficiency of its largest site.

The state of the art system will be designed to offer the benefits of improved product quality and

increased yield in high value cuts. The system utilises advanced x-ray and vision technology to

deliver a high accuracy of cutting, while also bringing significant developments in health and safety

as robotics remove much of the heavy primal cutting activities.

Scott CEO John Kippenberger, said: “Alliance and Scott have a long standing relationship and Scott is

again proud to partner with Alliance on this exciting and innovative project. This is a reflection of

Scott’s 2020 – 2025 strategy, to build authentic customer relationships and focus on our core areas

of expertise to deliver strong outcomes for our customers.”

Alliance CEO David Surveyor, said “The technology has already proven its value at our

Dannevirke, Pukeuri and Smithfield plants, with safety, labour and yield efficiency improvements.

This multi-million investment also underlines Alliance’s commitment to the Lorneville plant

and to Southland.”

While Scott has designed and built similar systems off shore, this will be the first commercial

forequarter system in New Zealand, making it the country’s most advanced lamb boning room. The

project will be designed and built at Scott’s Dunedin facility which is the company’s centre of

excellence for meat processing automation.
