Meridian welcomes High Court TPM decision
21 June 2022
Meridian Energy welcomes the High Court’s decision to dismiss the legal challenges of Manawa
Energy (formerly Trustpower) and others to the Electricity Authority’s new Transmission Pricing
Methodology (TPM) Guidelines. Meridian’s Chief Executive, Neal Barclay, says Meridian always
considered that the Authority’s decision was sound and followed a robust process.
“The Authority’s new TPM will, in Meridian’s view, better promote the long-term interests of
electricity consumers than the previous one. We look forward to the new TPM being fully in place
by 1 April 2023 and we recognise the considerable work that Transpower and the Electricity
Authority are undertaking to make it happen,” adds Barclay.
Meridian understands the full record of the Court’s decision will be made available on the Court’s
website soon.
