NZX RELEASE

8 December 2022

Channel Infrastructure acknowledges recent media regarding

batch of jet fuel

Channel Infrastructure (CHI) acknowledges the recent media coverage relating to a batch of Jet fuel

imported by one of its customers into Marsden Point over the weekend, which, upon testing, was found to be

off specification.

When the product was identified the issue was immediately flagged with the fuel companies, and offloading

of the product was stopped. Since then, we have been working closely with the fuel companies, bp, Mobil,

and Z Energy, on a product correction plan, which has involved the blending of some of this fuel with existing

jet fuel stocks at Marsden Point so that it does meet New Zealand’s fuel regulations, and on the export of the

remaining fuel.

The fuel is owned by the fuel companies and the issue with this shipment was identified as part of standard

fuel testing processes undertaken at Marsden Point. At no point will fuel that does not meet New Zealand

fuel regulations be distributed further along the fuel supply chain, and our stringent testing and regulatory

regime is designed to ensure this remains the case, regardless of the source of the fuel.
