Sky provides update on satellite migration

Sky advises that positive progress continues to be made on the programme to migrate to a new

satellite, with the final migration date now scheduled for mid-April 2025.

Updates include:

- Technical enhancements to the current D2 satellite have been successfully deployed, with a

significant improvement for the small segment of customers who had been experiencing

intermittent signal issues.

- Testing of transponders on the new satellite, Koreasat6, is well underway and will continue

through to the switchover in April.

- Software updates to classic and new Sky Boxes (to enable them to connect to the new

satellite on migration) have been successfully despatched this week, with minimal

interruptions to customers.

The next phase of testing, including updating on-the-ground technology, will continue in the coming

four to five weeks ahead of the final migration.

To ensure an optimal experience for Sky customers right across the country, and following recent

advice and assurances from Optus that the D2 satellite will continue to provide service through May

2025, Sky is now targeting a mid-April migration to the new satellite.

Taking an extra week or so from the earlier target of early April allows Optus and Sky additional time

to test and enhance signal strength for customers, noting that the new satellite is expected to

deliver a superior signal for the majority of New Zealand.

Sky will continue to communicate directly with customers as the migration date nears, and will

provide regular updates on its website.
