Professor Ronald William Jones CNZM, MB ChB, MD (Otago), FRCS (Ed.), FRCOG., FRANZCOG, passed

away peacefully on 31 March 2025.

TruScreen is privileged to have worked in close collaboration with Professor Jones in the development of

the TruScreen technology, especially on its AI-enabled algorithm in 2012. Prof. Jones was involved with

the TruScreen technology since inception and was the Principal Investigator for a 1,998-patient study at

National Women’s Hospital in Auckland, one of the key clinics used to gather early data for what was

then the Cervical PolarProbe (the predecessor prototype of TruScreen).

He was a member of the TruScreen medical advisory committee from 2015, and a Non-Executive

Director 2017-2021.

Professor Jones was a prominent globally renowned New Zealand gynaecologist, and a former clinical

professor at the University of Auckland. He wa s a widely published international authority on lower

genital tract pre-cancer and cancer, and past President of the International Society for the Study of

Vulvovaginal Disease and chair of the Scientific Committee of the International Federation of Cervical

Pathology and Colposcopy.

In 2017 he published a NZ bestselling book Doctors in Denial: The Forgotten Women in the ‘Unfortunate

Experiment’ exposing a dark history in cervical cancer study during the 1960s-1970s in Auckland, New

Zealand.

Prof. Jones led the technical presentation to the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi,

India. Resulting from his efforts in November 2017, a pilot study of 1,000 patients was successfully

completed. The COVID 19 pandemic interrupted further development of TruScreen into the Indian sub-

continent. TruScreen will continue with the pioneering work of Prof. Jones in India and will shortly appoint

a distributor in India.

Prof. Jones was a champion of women's health. His dedication and contributions to the understanding of

cervical cancer and gynaecological pathology will continue to impact countless lives for years to come

and we will remain indebted to his service.

Chairman Tony Ho and CEO, Martin Dillon met with Prof. Jones in Auckland in August 2024 to brief him of

the commercial acceptance of the TruScreen AI enabled technology in a number of key markets.

We will miss Prof. Jones’ counsel.

On behalf of the board and staff of TruScreen, our thoughts are with his family for the loss of a great

New Zealander.

This announcement has been approved by the Board.
