NZX appoints next future director
The NZX board has appointed Anna Scott as its next future director, effective 1 January 2019.
Anna is Development Director at Hobson Wealth Partners.
It is the second time NZX has appointed a future director, an initiative designed to help identify
and grow the next generation of New Zealand directors.
Administered by the Institute of Directors, the Future Directors Programme recognises talented
executives who are interested in developing governance skills. Participants attend board
meetings where they are able to observe and contribute to discussions in an advisor capacity,
but are not involved in any decision making and have no voting rights.
The programme operates within a well-defined set of protocols at NZX, which are designed to
maximise learning opportunities for the candidate, while not diluting the accountability of elected
directors to shareholders.
NZX Chair James Miller commented: “Initiatives like the Future Directors Programme help to
address board diversity, while widening New Zealand’s director talent pool. NZX is pleased to
continue its participation in the programme, and looks forward to the contribution Anna will
make to the board and our broader organisation.”
Anna has 20 years’ experience in programme and business management roles in London,
Kuala Lumpur and Auckland. During her time in London Anna held the role of Global Business
Manager for JPMorgan’s investment bank currency trading division, and since her return to
Auckland has consulted on a number of business improvement programmes. Most recently,
Anna joined Hobson Wealth Partners Board as a director-appointee after overseeing its
accreditation as an NZX trading and clearing participant and improvement of international and
custody services.
Anna Scott commented: “I am excited to have this opportunity to join NZX as a future director
and further develop my governance skills in a listed company environment. I am looking forward
to learning from experienced directors and contributing to an industry that I'm passionate about.”
