EROAD appoints North American Director
EROAD today announces the appointment of Barry Einsig to the Board as a North American based
independent director. Located in Pennsylvania, Mr Einsig brings considerable transport knowledge of
the North American market as well as global automated and connected vehicle expertise.
Mr Einsig is currently a principal at CAVita, providing consulting services to cities, governments and
companies on Smart Cities, transport mobility and connected/automated vehicle systems. He built
and implemented the global strategy for Cisco across all modes of transport and mobility, growing
Cisco’s automotive and transportation revenue by 32% on an annualized basis over 5 years. He has
held directorships of The Infrastructure Security Partnership; Vice Chair American Public Transport
Association R&T; Chair Intelligent Transportation Society of America ATMS; was the Chair and
founding member of Joint Council on Transit Wireless Communications; and has advised Singapore’s
Ministry of Transportation on their Highly Automated Vehicle Program. In addition, Mr Einsig has
reviewed work undertaken by the Transportation Research Board and created patent-approved
technology used in Public Safety Networks.
EROAD chairman Graham Stuart says “Barry’s command of the North American transport market,
combined with his extensive and global experience in connected vehicles and smart transport
networks, rounds out the Board’s expertise that is successfully guiding EROAD’s continued growth”.
North America is now an established market for EROAD, contributing strongly to EBITDA as outlined
in the company’s recent financial half year results. A North American based Director maintains the
emphasis on that market, important for the company’s strong growth strategy.
“Our Board review identified strengthening our transport-technology expertise. Understandably this
is an incredibly specialized field, requiring an extensive search to find someone who was equally
passionate about our core purpose of making safer, more productive roads.” said Mr Stuart.
Mr Einsig will join the EROAD Board as an independent director effective immediately. The Board
has determined that Mr Einsig is an independent director for the purposes of the NZX Listing Rules.

About EROAD
• EROAD believes every community deserves safer roads that can be sustainably funded. This is why EROAD develops
technology solutions (products and services) that manage vehicle fleets, support regulatory compliance, improve driver safety
and reduce the costs associated with driving. EROAD also provides valuable insights and data analytics to universities,
government agencies and others who research, trial and evaluate future transport networks. This data enables those who use
the roads to influence the design, management and funding of future transport networks.
• EROAD launched with the purpose of modernizing New Zealand’s paper-based road user charging system. By 2009 EROAD
had introduced the world’s first nationwide electronic road user charging system and now around 46% of collected heavy
vehicle road user charges in New Zealand are being collected using EROAD technology. By March 2019, this had delivered
NZ$2.5B to NZTA for the sustainability of the NZ transport network. In the USA, EROAD introduced the first electronic
Weight Mile Tax service (2014) and the first independently verified Electronic Logging Device service (2017).
• EROAD (ERD) is listed on the NZX, and employs almost 300 staff located across NZ, Australia and North America.
