June 2020 Monthly traffic update and July 2020 preview

Auckland Airport total passenger volumes decreased by 84.9% in June 2020 versus last year. International passengers (excl. Transits)
were down 97.0%, transit passengers were down 96.5% and domestic passengers were down by 70.9%.

Key Points:
• The decline in total passengers for June 2020 reflects the impact of the travel restrictions imposed by the New Zealand Government in response
to Covid-19. The closure of the New Zealand border from 20 March 2020 to all but New Zealand citizens and permanent residents has had a
significant impact on international services.
• On 9 June 2020, New Zealand entered Alert Level 1 lifting all domestic travel restrictions and Air New Zealand began increasing domestic capacity
towards its target of 55% of pre-Covid-19 capacity for July 2020.

July 2020 Monthly traffic update preview

Auckland Airport total passenger volumes decreased by 70.8% in July 2020 versus last year. International passengers (excl. Transits)
were down 96.9%, transit passengers were down 94.7% and domestic passengers were down by 39.2%.

Key Points:
• The decline in total passengers for July 2020 reflects the impact of the travel restrictions imposed by the New Zealand Government in response
to Covid-19. The closure of the New Zealand border from 20 March 2020 to all but New Zealand citizens and permanent residents has had a
significant impact on international services.
• In July, domestic passenger numbers recovered further from the previous month, with Jetstar Airways resuming domestic jet services from 1 July
2020 and Air New Zealand increasing domestic capacity towards its target of 55% of pre-Covid-19 capacity for July 2020. As at publication date,
it was unclear how significant the setback to the domestic passenger recovery would be from Auckland re-entering Alert Level 3 on 12 August
and the rest of New Zealand re-entering Alert Level 2.
