Mercury appoints new GM Sustainability
30 March 2021 – Mercury is pleased to announce that Lucie Drummond, previously Mercury’s Risk
Assurance Officer, has been appointed to the role of General Manager Sustainability reporting to Chief
Executive Vince Hawksworth.
Mr Hawksworth said the new role, announced earlier this year, was an important addition as Mercury looks to best
position itself for long-term, sustainable growth.
“Lucie’s role includes responsibility for driving the framework for business strategy, environment, social and
corporate governance as well as creating possibilities for Mercury focusing on the future of energy,” said Mr
Hawksworth.
Mr Hawksworth said Lucie was a standout candidate with strong sustainability credentials and a proven track
record of leadership and delivery at Mercury.
“Lucie has played a pivotal role in a number of key outcomes for Mercury, including leading our ‘Thrive’ operational
improvement programme, establishing and embedding our integrated strategic framework and overseeing the
strategic co-ordination of our R&D investments portfolio.”
Mr Hawksworth said the process for the internally filled appointment was extremely robust and a strong indicator of
Mercury’s focus on building internal capability.
“It’s always pleasing to be announcing the appointment of one of our own people, and it’s a great testament to the
strong pipeline of internal talent we have here at Mercury,” he said.
Ms Drummond joined Mercury in 2012 and has a wide range of experience across the company. In December, she
was named the 2020 Young Executive of the Year in the Deloitte Top 200 Awards.
On further executive changes (announced in January), Mr Hawksworth said the recruitment process for the
General Manager Customer and General Manager Generation roles was progressing well, with appointments to be
confirmed in the coming months.
Ms Drummond will begin in her new role immediately.
