Phoenix Healthcare Group and Third Age Health partnering to realise new clinic for central Christchurch

Third Age Health and Phoenix Healthcare Group are partnering to realise a new integrated general practice

and allied health clinic to support unmet health need in the central Christchurch area.

The planned general practice clinic, to be named Phoenix Health Hub, will be situated in the central city as part

of the current Phoenix Healthcare Group site at 166 Moorhouse Avenue.

The expanded clinic will offer general practice services for people of all ages alongside Phoenix’s already

established allied health services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, vaccination clinic, health

monitoring, home and community support, nursing services and ear clinic.

“We’re really excited about the opportunities that exist in Christchurch to establish a new integrated primary

care clinic. There is growth happening in Christchurch and we know there is already a sizable number of

people in the central city area who are not enrolled in general practice and many exciting practices are closed

for new enrolments, we are looking to fill this gap, said Tony Wai, CEO, Third Age Health.

“We’re already providing general practice services for a number of aged residential care facilities in the

Christchurch area and as in other areas the new clinic will provide a hub from which to support our ‘on the

ground’ clinical team and to enable us to offer a wider range of services to support the health of older people

in the Canterbury region.”

Phoenix Healthcare Group General Manager, Indy Saul said, “Including a general practice offering as part of

already established allied health clinic is a natural progression to ensure our current clients and people who

live in the central city or travel in for work have access to a modern integrated healthcare experience.

We’re excited to be partnering with Third Age Health to develop the clinic and will draw on their general

practice experience to deliver a healthcare experience that incorporates the best of in-person and digital

services.”

The new general practice clinic is expected to be open sometime in late spring and will begin with a lead GP

and nursing team alongside other allied health professionals onsite, with the general practice team growing as

patient enrolments increase.

Experienced health sector operations lead, Chenoa Walker, who recently joined the Third Age Health team as

the Regional Health Manager for Canterbury will lead the development of the new clinic

General Practitioners or Nurse Practitioners interested in being part of the new clinic are encouraged to
