Kinross Gold Selects Scott Technology to Drive Advanced

Automation at Alaska’s Fort Knox Mine

Scott’s Rocklabs AMS to Boost Efficiency and Safety for Kinross Gold in Alaska’s Remote and Extreme

Conditions

Auckland, NZ, [25 Nov 2024] — Scott Technology has partnered with Kinross Gold Corporation on a strategic initiative to

enhance processing efficiency, safety, and operational resilience at the Fort Knox mine in Alaska. This first phase will see Scott

deploy a key crushing component from its Rocklabs Automated Modular Solution (AMS) — an adaptable automation platform

designed for high sample consistency in mining and mineral laboratories, with options for future module expansions.

Kinross Gold Corporation, a leading Canadian-based gold and silver mining company, operates Fort Knox, one of its largest

and most productive mines, located 42 kilometres northeast of Fairbanks, Alaska. This remote, year-round operation faces

unique challenges that make advanced automation essential for optimising efficiency and ensuring workforce safety.

“Fort Knox is globally recognised as one of the few year-round heap leach facilities, operating through Alaska's harsh winters

— a testament to Kinross' dedication to innovation and operational excellence in challenging conditions,” said Mike

Christman, CEO of Scott Technology. “The AMS Prep Line developed by Scott’s Rocklabs business group will significantly

improve processing efficiency, elevate safety standards, and support scalable growth at Fort Knox, helping Kinross address

the challenges of distance and seasonal staffing.”

The AMS Prep Line offers Fort Knox substantial advantages, including near ly doubling of throughput capacity, enhancing

sample consistency, and reducing human error in laboratory analysis. By minimising manual handling and associated health

risks , this automation addresses staffing and logistical challenges common ly encountered in remote environments. Its

modular design also gives Kinross flexibility to expand operations with additional modules in future phases as needs evolve.

“This collaboration with Kinross is a pivotal moment for Scott Technology on multiple fronts,” adds Casey Jenkins, President

of Minerals at Scott Technology. “It supports our strategy to expand Scott’s presence in North America while also

demonstrating our shift from custom-built systems to scalable, standardised products. With this second AMS Prep Line order,

we are entering the gold sector and proving the technology’s adaptability in extreme conditions — from -40°C in Alaska to

over 45°C in Australia. We’re thrilled to develop meaningful automation solutions that align with the industry’s most

demanding operational needs.”

Due to confidentiality agreements with Kinross Gold Corporation, the financial specifics of the project have not been

disclosed.
