Board fee comparison by IoD designation level (2025 data)
Fee premium may reflect experience and seniority rather than IoD designation itself. IoD-designated directors tend to serve on larger-capitalisation boards and hold more senior roles (including chair positions), both of which independently command higher fees. This analysis presents the observed fee differences without attributing them solely to IoD status.

This analysis uses board fee data from 2025 (the most recent complete year), sourced from the remuneration_history table (2,297total records from 2022 onward). Each record represents one director's fee at one issuer in one year.
Directors are classified as IoD-designated if their biography or qualifications mention an Institute of Directors NZ designation (CFInstD, CMInstD, MInstD, or CDir). The median and percentile statistics use individual fee records, not per-director averages, to preserve the full distribution.
