Brett Hewlett has a long association with Comvita Ltd (NZX: CVT), serving in multiple leadership capacities over nearly two decades. He was CEO of Comvita from September 2005 to March 2016, leading a decade of transformational growth and international expansion. After a sabbatical, he returned as Independent Director in May 2017, became Executive Director leading a strategic review in FY2019, was appointed Chair in January 2020, and returned as CEO in September 2024. Brett grew up on a dairy farm in the Waikato. He began his career at NZ Co-operative Dairy Company (now Fonterra), then joined Alfa Laval in Hamilton before transferring to the UK. Following Tetra Pak's acquisition of Alfa Laval, he led the startup of operations developing Tetra Pak's eastern Mediterranean markets and held additional positions across the UK and Europe. He holds a B.Tech (Food Technology) from Massey University, an MBA from IMD Lausanne (Switzerland), and is a Member of the Institute of Directors. He completed the 2012 Primary Industry Bootcamp at Stanford University.
