John Fernandes has 20 years of leadership experience across strategy and finance. He is currently Executive Chairman of Third Age Health Services and CFO of MacroActive. John's career includes roles as Senior Strategy Analyst and Head of Strategy at NZX Limited, where he partnered with executive leaders to develop NZX's own initial public offering. He subsequently led the Quantum Programme at Spark New Zealand and served as Group Head of Strategy at MediaWorks NZ. He has been a director of Third Age Health since 2019, previously chairing the Audit Committee. In October 2025, following CEO Tony Wai's departure, John was appointed Executive Chairman, requesting that his remuneration be fully variable and tied to drivers of value creation. He has implemented Kaizen methodology across Third Age Health, emphasising continuous improvement. John holds an MBA from The University of Auckland. His experience spans strategy, finance, and continuous improvement within financial services, telecommunications, media, and technology businesses.
