Fiona Oliver is an experienced professional director with a governance career spanning a variety of sectors, including renewable energy, natural gas, technology, retirement villages, commercial property, financial services, professional services, and sport. These roles, ranging from Board Member to Audit & Risk Committee Chair, have been in commercial, public sector and not-for-profit entities including Freightways (NZX), Clarus (formerly First Gas group), Gentrack (NZX/ASX), Tilt Renewables (NZX/ASX), and Summerset Holdings. Fiona is a director of Kingfish, Barramundi, and Marlin Global. She also serves on the boards of Gentrack Group Limited, Clarus Group, Freightways Limited, Summerset Holdings Limited, and is a board member of the Guardians of the New Zealand Superannuation Fund. Fiona has held Executive leadership roles in funds management for Westpac (BT Funds Management) as Chief Operating Officer and AMP NZ's Wealth Management division as General Manager. She has also held commercial roles in asset management and private equity in Sydney and London, where she managed the Risk and Operations function for AMP's private capital division. Prior to her management career, Fiona practised as a senior corporate and commercial lawyer in New Zealand and overseas, specialising in mergers and acquisitions. Fiona is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a member of Global Women. She was awarded the Beacon Award by the New Zealand Shareholders Association in 2021. Fiona is involved in governance because she believes an entity benefits from the different perspectives a board brings. Independent directors are increasingly valued as management teams have confidence their goals and strategies are supported by independent contributors. Fiona is a keen swimmer and her first job in London during her OE was as a lifeguard at the Brentford Leisure Centre. Fiona's principal place of residence is Auckland. Fiona was first appointed to the Marlin board on 1 June 2022 and to Summerset in 2023, where she chairs the Audit and Risk Committee.
