What is the Corporate Giving tracker?

It aggregates and categorises donations, sponsorships, community investments, and grants disclosed in NZX company annual reports. Data is extracted using AI from the community investment and statutory disclosure sections of each report.

How is the data collected?

We use Claude Haiku to extract structured donation data from the full text of annual report PDFs. Each recipient, amount, and donation type is captured. Results are cross-matched to registered New Zealand charities where possible.

Why do some companies show no data?

Some companies do not disclose community investment details in their annual reports, or their reports could not be processed (corrupted PDFs, protected files). Managed investment funds typically have no community giving programs.

Where can I see a specific company's charitable giving?

Each company's ESG tab now includes a "Community & Charitable Giving" card showing total giving, charities funded (linked to CharityData profiles with ratings), sectors supported, and year-over-year trends. This independently verifies corporate social responsibility claims using actual charity financial data.
