What is the Risk Language Tracker?

The Risk Language Tracker monitors the frequency of risk-related keywords across NZX company announcements. It covers 10 risk categories including going concern warnings, litigation, impairment, covenant issues, regulatory actions, supply chain risk, cyber security, climate risk, fraud indicators, and geopolitical risk.

How is it calculated?

We scan the full extracted text of every NZX company announcement PDF using keyword pattern matching. No AI is used — just precise regex patterns. Results are aggregated by company, year, and risk category.

Does a mention indicate the company is at risk?

Not necessarily. Risk language may appear in standard audit reports, risk management disclosures, or industry commentary. A mention indicates the topic is discussed, not that the company faces that specific risk. Always read the source announcement for context.
